Angel Pagan told the Puerto Rican newspaper El Vocero that he has decided not to sign with any franchise for the 2017 season.

Pagan, however, left the door open for a possible return in 2018.

"I am now dedicating myself to focusing more on my family," Pagan, 35, said. "Devoting the time that my family deserves. I've spent a lot of time away from home."

His future has been up in the air since he hit free agency after the Giants declined to bring him back this offseason.

Carlos Correa isn't interested in signing a long-term deal at this point, according to his agent.

"Carlos is never going to do an (early) multiyear contract," Greg Genske told FanRag Sports.

The Houston Astros shortstop in making the Major League minimum $535,000 this season. He is still two years from arbitration and five years from free agency.

The Baltimore Orioles have reached an agreement on a Minor League deal with Michael Bourn.

Bourn will report to extended spring training.

The 34-year-old was expected to make the Orioles' Opening Day roster, but he suffered a broken finger.

The Washington Nationals are re-signing Joe Nathan to a Minor League deal.

Nathan opted out of his previous Minor League deal with the Nationals on March 27, but he was unable to land a Major League deal elsewhere.

Nathan, 42, threw just 6 2/3 Major League innings over the previous two seasons, largely because he underwent his second Tommy John procedure while with the Detroit Tigers in April 2015.

The Giants and outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. have agreed to a Minor League contract on Saturday, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical.

Upton hit .238 with 20 homers and 61 RBIs split between the Padres and Blue Jays in 2016. 

Upton is expected to report to Triple-A Sacramento, where he will join recently signed outfielder Drew Stubbs.

The Cleveland Indians plan to explore a contract extension with Carlos Santana in an attempt to keep him from becoming a free agent after this season.

The Indians recently agreed to long-term deals with Jose Ramirez and Roberto Perez, while also making an attempt to lock up Francisco Lindor.

Since the start of the 2011 season, Santana has averaged 153 games and 654 plate appearances per season. His initial contract was a five-year, $21 million deal.

Jonathan Villar is "willing to bet on himself and go year-to-year unless [the Milwaukee Brewers] approach us with a contract that makes sense," according to his agent, Melvin Roman.

The infielder reportedly rejected a contract extension this offseason that would have guaranteed him in the neighborhood of $20 million.

Villar, who turns 26 in May, hit .285/.369/.457 with 19 home runs, 63 RBI and 62 stolen bases in 679 plate appearances last season.

The Atlanta Braves have signed Ryan Howard to a Minor League contract.

Howard will report to extended spring training next week then will join Triple-A Gwinnett.

Howard, 37, is a career .258 hitter with 382 home runs and 1,194 RBIs.

The New York Mets have signed Desmond Jennings to a Minor League contract.

Jennings has been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

He spent spring training with the Cincinnati Reds but was released recently.

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to a Minor League deal with Mike Pelfrey.

The club will send Pelfrey, 33, to Triple-A Charlotte.

Pelfrey was released by the Detroit Tigers last week.
